What's the quickest way to safely defrost hamburg?

I'm trying to make my mom a nice surprise dinner, but only have an hour or two for the hamburg to thaw out. How do I go about doing this? Only serious answers please... thank you How long will it take to defrost in the microwave? If I just put it in a pan and start to cook it, will the ice just melt and the hamburg cook, or will that spoil the meat?

1. I make sure the meat is secure in a ziplock bag and run it under warm water in a bowl. Some may say that this is unsafe, but my family has done it forever and we've never gotten ill from it.
2. I do mine on low in the micro wave. If I don't check it pretty often the edges will start to cook before the middle is thawed.
3. Safest is always overnight in the fridge...however, in a hurry the microwave is safe...just be sure to continue cooking it immediately.
4. Fill up a big bowl with water and place the pack of hamburger in the water to defrost....you can keep changing the water as you check to see how well the meat is defrosting. Or, check your microwave for a defrost button. Great luck and kudos to you for treating Mom!!:)
5. most microwaves have a defrost setting, you can put it in a microwave safe bowl and nuke it for about 5 minutes then check it and go from there. attempting to cook it frozen is ok it just takes longer, and it will burn on the outside before the inside is cooked at all.
